The Department of Emergency Medicine offers various courses and learning opportunities for students during their medical school education. As the only Level I trauma center in Central New York, our department is a fast paced, exciting place for students to experience clinical medicine.

 

Students have access to board certified faculty, as well as residents in training in the field. Students will be exposed to various aspects of medicine in the Emergency Department. Students can also experience various settings and practices in emergency medicine, with clinical faculty practicing at Upstate University Hospital, Golisano Children's Hospital Pediatrics Emergency Department, Community General Hospital, and the Syracuse VA Hospital.

With access to a state of the art Simulation Center (EMSTAT), students also have opportunities to learn and practice aspects of clinical emergency medicine in a safe environment with a hands-on approach to learning.
